Privacy Policy

In short: Listen uses your Apple Music listening history to build your music map, charts and stats. We don't show ads, we don't sell your data, nothing is posted anywhere unless you tap share, and deleting your account in the app erases your data.
1. Who we are
Listen (“we”, “us”) operates the Listen mobile application (the “App”) and this website. Questions about privacy: hi@listenapp.site.
2. What we collect
- Account data. When you sign in with Apple: a unique Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and e-mail address (which may be an Apple private relay address).
- Apple Music access. When you connect Apple Music, the App receives a Music User Token from Apple. We store it on our servers so your history keeps syncing in the background while the app is closed.
- Listening history. The tracks you recently played on Apple Music, with their artists, albums, genres and release dates, and the time we recorded each play.
- Music library play counts. With your permission to access your media library, the App reads how many times each track in your library has been played and when it was last played, together with the track and artist names. We use this only to make your all-time charts accurate.
- Derived data. What we build from the above: the countries on your map, your charts and your stats. Your device's time-zone offset is used so that “time of day” stats match your local time.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription or trial. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.
- Technical data. Basic information your device sends when the App talks to our servers and service providers, such as IP address, device model, OS version and app version.
We do not access your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use it
- To build and update your music map, charts, stats and story videos.
- To keep your account signed in and synced across sessions.
- To provide and restore your subscription.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems and improve the App.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
4. Service providers
We share data only with providers that help us run the App, and only what each of them needs:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, Apple Music, App Store purchases.
- Railway — hosting of our servers and database (United States).
- Adapty — subscription management and the in-app paywall.
- Google Firebase — remote configuration of app settings.
- Mapbox — map display; receives technical data needed to deliver map tiles.
- MusicBrainz — public music database; we send it artist names only, never anything about you, to find where artists come from.
5. Sharing you choose
Stats cards and story videos are created on your device and leave it only when you share them yourself, through the app you pick.
6. How long we keep it, and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the App (Profile → Delete account). This immediately erases your account, listening history, library play counts, map and stats from our systems; copies may remain in routine backups for a limited time before they are overwritten.
You can also disconnect Apple Music, or revoke the App's access at any time in iOS Settings. Deleting the account does not cancel an App Store subscription — manage that in your App Store settings.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU and UK, and US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object to or restrict its processing. Write to hi@listenapp.site and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and access to our systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you as required by law if a breach affects it.
10. International transfers
Our servers are in the United States. Where data moves from the EU or UK, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the App if the change is significant.
